It’s been a loooooong time since I lost posted on my blog. My mom and I were all ready to start the project when we found a problem. The bottom thread coming from the bobbin is not being picked up by the needle. Instead, it just bunches up and creates a mess. We have no idea how to fix it. If anyone has any advice or tips for figuring it out I would greatly appreciate it! The machine is old, we have a Singer Futura II 920, so it’s a bit hard to find answers on the internet.
I’m back to working and I think the kids this school year are going to be better than last year. This means no stress and being able to focus on my sewing project. 🙂
With being back at work again that means getting paid! So today I went out with my mom to get our fabric. We’ll be sewing together since she has more experience and can help me out.
There were a lot of fabric to choose from in many beautiful colors. But I’ve decided on this.
The camera on my phone didn’t really capture the color well. It’s darker and more like a plum color. I absolutely love it! 🙂 Now I just need to get some matching thread and zipper then I’d be all ready to sew! I’m so happy to be able to move along with my dress. 🙂
Sigh. Just when I thought I was gonna get my sew on the road I’ve run into some money troubles. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the fabric like I had wanted. Total bummer. ;.; I’m hoping though to get some fabric with my mom either this weekend or next weekend. I seriously can’t wait until I start working again and have a regular income! Haha
Anyways, this was just a little update since I didn’t want it to look like I abandoned this blog already. Haha
Hello! This is my very first post for the blog. Yay! 😀
So for this first post I’m going to show of my sewing work space. At the moment I don’t have any sewing done but I was too eager to start my blog. Haha
To start off I’m showing off my sewing machine.
What I have is a Singer Futura II Model 920. From what I understand this machine is from the 1970’s. It’s older than me! Haha
Now this one belonged to my grandmother and I love that there is history behind it. This machine was used to make all sorts of clothes, backpacks, purses, etc. for my mother and her siblings. From what my mother has told me, the very last outfit made on this machine was my Jasmine Halloween costume! 😀 After that, for some reason, it was put away and never used again.
My grandmother has been gone for a few years now and it’s just been sitting somewhere in my grandpa’s house collecting dust. But just this past weekend my grandpa gave it to me. And not only that, he also had the sewing table that went with it. So cool.
I don’t know too much about the table but I think it’s pretty cool. The sewing machine fits on the top and when it’s not in use it goes down and inside the table. The doors close and the tops fold on top creating a regular table. I’ve never seen anything like this before.
Typing all of this has made me excited to start sewing! I already have my vintage 50’s dress pattern and this weekend I’m going to get the fabric. I don’t know what color I want though. Hmm, maybe I’ll pick another Jasmine color. 😉
